Fractional skin rejuvenation

As we get older the effects of sun, smoking, diet and pollution all take their toll on our skin and less collagen is produced. "Collagen", is the tough fibrous protein present in our skin, which gives it its texture and elasticity. Fractional laser treatments stimulate your skin’s natural healing process, resulting in accelerated collagen production and a renewal process that can take years off your skin. Fractional resurFACE® laser treatment provides the most effective anti-ageing laser procedure with a minimum recovery period. This laser can treat lines and wrinkles, improve overall skin tone and elasticity and restore a more youthful complexion. Fractional laser resurfacing offers a solution for acne scarring or sun damaged skin. Skin rejuvenation uses Fractional and/or Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) which stimulates collagen and elastin production deep within the dermis, increasing skin elasticity and strength, making the skin look softer and smoother.

Fractional laser skin resurfacing provides total rejuvenation to give the skin a smooth, youthful and glowing appearance and is highly recommended for individuals who want a smoother skin texture.

The award-winning ResurFace® fractional Er: YAG laser delivers ablative treatments for dramatic rejuvenation results. Helping to improve the appearance and smoothness of your skin, ResurFACE® fractional laser delivers very similar treatments results as other, more aggressive treatments such as CO2 laser and injectable options, but with very few side effects and a much shorter recovery period.

Fraxel Skin Rejuvenation: About

How it works

The laser light is absorbed by the water in the skin, which creates heat and removes tiny sections of the skin (giving a ‘resurfacing peel-like’ effect). This heat then penetrates into the deeper layers of the skin to stimulate significant collagen renewal. By targeting tiny areas of the skin, the laser stimulates the skin’s renewal process and so works with the body’s natural recovery process.

The Lynton ResurFACE® fractional laser targets:

  • Lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, scars and sun damaged skin

  • deeper layers of the skin with a minimal recovery period.

The Lynton Lumina® Laser and Intense Pulsed Light system is used to progressively improve the skin tone and texture in the following ways:

  • Stimulates collagen and elastin production, deep within the dermis, increasing skin elasticity and strength.

  • Reduces pigmentation problems, giving skin a more even colour.

  • Reduces fine thread veins, thereby reducing general skin redness.

Frequently asked questions

Am I suitable for treatment?

Treatment is suitable for most people and highly recommended for individuals wanting a brighter more even skin tone; smoother skin texture with improved skin elasticity; a reduction of wrinkles; reduced pore size and improvement to scars (including acne scars).

How is the treatment carried out?

The skin is cleansed and the laser is moved over the skin delivering tiny microscopic laser beams. Typically treatment time varies depending upon the skin condition and the area being treated, but will range from 10 to 40 minutes. After treatment the skin is cooled. Protective eye wear must be worn during treatment.

How does the treatment feel?

A warm, heating sensation is felt during treatment with some mild stinging. After treatment the skin can be quite hot, however with the added addition of our Cryo-cooling technology this is dramatically reduced.

What should I expect after treatment?

You will experience a mild sunburn sensation for a few hours after treatment and the skin may be red for 1 to 2 days. This is a normal sign that the skin is healing at a deep level. Swelling is likely but minimal, and resolves in 2 to 3 days. As the healing process occurs, your skin may have a ‘bronzed’ appearance that lasts from 3 to 10 days, depending on the treatment level. Your skin will naturally exfoliate and may flake as if you had mild sunburn.

Are there any side effects?

Skin redness, swelling and the bronzing appearance described above are all expected outcomes of treatment. Other adverse effects are rare but can include a small blister or temporary change to skin pigmentation, such as a darkening of the skin.

How many treatments are necessary?

Improvement is evident after the first session, but for optimum results 3 to 5

treatment sessions are often advised. Treatment is carried out every 2 to 6 weeks, depending upon the level of rejuvenation required.

Kardashians Favour Laser Skin Resurfacing for Dramatic Rejuvenation

Since 2015 there has been a huge increase in demand for fractional resurfacing laser treatment, largely due to the UK aesthetic industry managing to portray the superior results achieved over to the general public.

For years, areas of facial scarring (commonly left by acne), through to post-pregnancy stretch marks have required minimal treatments, such as long-term skincare products, to dramatic procedures, including facelift surgery.

Stretch marks and scarring are some of the UK’s most common aesthetic concerns, along with general signs of ageing, such as fine lines and wrinkles. People worldwide spend billions every year on skin care products that help reduce the effects of these conditions, however, as the Kardashians now know, fractional laser is the quickest and most effective way to tackle these sensitive areas.

The aim of laser skin resurfacing is to give the skin a much smoother look and feel, as well as removing wrinkles, stretch marks and uneven skin tone - without the use of any surgical equipment. Overall, this method is designed to stimulate natural collagen production deep within the dermis, typically leaving the surface skin unharmed. The treatment is not considered as painful and is often described as a warming sensation with some mild stinging.

The huge demand for laser resurfacing was evident as our Lynton ResurFACE® laser was voted the ‘Most Innovative Aesthetic Treatment 2014’. Years of research have been invested into the technology and here at ReWork Skin Clinic in Sheffield, we are aware of the dramatic results possible with our fractional laser technology!

ResurFACE® fractional laser provides total rejuvenation to give the skin a smooth, youthful and glowing appearance, and is highly recommended for individuals who want a smoother skin texture or an improvement in the appearance of scarring and stretch marks.
